Working Hard or Hardly Working?

Chang said keep a sketchbook over the summer. So I did. Because I'm a good student. I went out and got the best sketchbook money could buy and completely psyched myself out over working in it. Good job, overambition. You ruin all the fun.

Because of the excessive swimming, movie watching, reading, eating out, exploring, and basking in the heavenly goodness of the city's free activities, I have neglected my sketchbook. Sorry, buddy. Now that I'm fully relaxed I'm ready to tackle these pages. These are the first four pages of my 'big ass sketchbook.' They are ongoing so I will be working on them continuously as I start new pages.

And lastly my commitment-phobic self couldn't deal with ONE big ass sketchbook for the WHOLE summer. So I've been sculpting. Meet Lobo:
He's for sale in my Etsy Store.

Alright. Adios, mis bloggers compaƱeros! I will be in the Dominican Republic for a week! Who will feed my rats?

FIGHT

My insomnia is very persistent. Lucky me. When I am done with these last four pages of my Obey sketchbook, I can begin my "summer" sketchbook. I bought it yesterday and it is already plastered with drool.

Close

This is the end. Survey is over and done with. I have one last final (science) tomorrow which will conclude my semester. It was a fruitful one, I suppose. But now I am jobless and lingering over stupid things I should get over. ANYWAYS, here are the fruits of my labor which I have kept hidden- because I thought it was shitty or it was too big to scan or a culmination of both.
acrylic on paper 10 x 14

oil on paper 18 x 28

acrylic on paper 18 x 24

acrylic on paper 10 x 7

acrylic on paper 39 x 45

The last piece is unfinished. I might rework it during the summer.

How Hank Met Kyle

I used to draw my grotesque balding chicken-like english teacher in high school a lot. At first, it was merely my fascination with how gross he was. And then the chicken doodles became elaborate stories of his adventures falling from the chicken kingdom. Over the years, this character has evolved into Hank.

Observe!

These are my three most recent pieces for the NY Observer (newer ones first). I'm trying to keep myself interested since I've been so unmotivated as of late. All three are painted with nail polish. I wanted to experiment with something other than acrylic. But I think this will be the end of my nail polish adventures. The morning after headaches I've been getting from the enamel asphyxiation are not fun.

I figured

I didn't plan on going to the annual Pratt Draw-a-thon but I changed my mind last minute and decided to go. I managed to hack out 5 hours this morning. I'm very rusty on my figure drawing.
