How Hank Met Kyle

I used to draw my grotesque balding chicken-like english teacher in high school a lot. At first, it was merely my fascination with how gross he was. And then the chicken doodles became elaborate stories of his adventures falling from the chicken kingdom. Over the years, this character has evolved into Hank.

Observe!

These are my three most recent pieces for the NY Observer (newer ones first). I'm trying to keep myself interested since I've been so unmotivated as of late. All three are painted with nail polish. I wanted to experiment with something other than acrylic. But I think this will be the end of my nail polish adventures. The morning after headaches I've been getting from the enamel asphyxiation are not fun.

I figured

I didn't plan on going to the annual Pratt Draw-a-thon but I changed my mind last minute and decided to go. I managed to hack out 5 hours this morning. I'm very rusty on my figure drawing.

Talking Shit About A Pretty Sunset

Me and my sketchbook had a fight. But we made up yesterday and I agreed to post.

A Fortunate Age

Another Observer piece. I really wasn't feeling this week's review. The book is about a group of friends that graduate from college and struggle in NYC. HMM. SOUND FAMILIAR?

I had a slight artistic meltdown a few hours before it was due. I feel like I'm stuck in a slump- a slump I don't want to be in. I need to do more experimenting.

I've been looking at David Choe's work. I really love the rawness of it.

I was defending craigslist recently. "At least there's no human trafficking," I said. Right afterwards, I came across this. HA.

Mind Vomit

This was my editorial for this week's class. It was for an article about the Weatherman who advocated peace through violent means. Below are the first two comics I did for my sequential class this semester. I finally got around to scanning them. Watchmen format. Black and White only. The first one is my interpretation of Percy Shelley's Ozymandias. The second is one of Shakespeare's sonnets.

In other news:
I love this song
This makes me want to be an origami master.
The trailer for Where the Wild Things Are excites me.
I'm really diggin' this shit.
I'm thinking about getting a rat.
